Worrying is not thinking
The mind is an associative process and jumps automatically from one concept to another. For example, recalling your kitchen in your mind might lead to a chain from dirty dishes, to last night's party, to a friend's problem. Sometimes, that associative process creates an unproductive mental loop or compulsion. For example, Peter has no money, because he has no job— Peter has no job, because he has no car— Peter has no car because he has no money. Here we are back at the beginning--Peter has no money, because he has no job. That process is called worrying. No matter how many times Peter will repeat to himself that he has no money that mantra will not improve his financial position. Worrying is counterproductive because it overloads the conscious, and inhibits rest and thinking. Peter needs the Stress-inhibitor in order to escape from his worry-loop and to restart his thinking.
